Content Policy & Community Guidelines

Whimsy Ink is a creative community. These guidelines exist to keep it safe, welcoming, and worth being part of. They apply to all content generated through the Service and all interactions within the community.

1. What's Welcome

We believe great fiction explores the full range of human experience. The following content is welcome on the platform with appropriate content warnings:

• Literary violence — war, conflict, thriller, horror, crime fiction. Stories can be dark. Tag appropriately.
• Profanity — language is part of voice. Use it as the story requires.
• Dark and difficult themes — abuse, addiction, trauma, grief, mental health, moral complexity. These are where the best fiction lives. Content warnings, not restrictions.
• Romance and intimacy — physical descriptions of bodies, desire, arousal, tension, kissing, touching, undressing, characters in bed together, sensory language (heat, breath, skin against skin), scenes that build to the moment and fade during or shortly after, morning-after scenes implying what happened.

We follow the R-rated film standard: bodies yes, passion yes, the moment yes.

2. Where the Line Is

The following content crosses from intimacy into explicit territory and is not permitted:

• Graphic anatomical description of genitalia
• Explicit play-by-play description of sex acts
• Pornographic language or terminology

The difference is simple: "she pulled him closer and the rest of the world disappeared" is welcome. A graphic description of what happened next is not. The reader's imagination fills the gap — and that's better fiction anyway.

3. What's Never Allowed

The following content will result in immediate removal and may result in account suspension or permanent ban:

• Sexual or romantic content involving minors — zero tolerance, no exceptions
• Non-consensual sexual content presented approvingly — depicting assault as fantasy or entertainment
• Content featuring real people as characters — living or recently deceased public figures, politicians, celebrities, or private individuals
• Content that violates applicable law — in any jurisdiction
• Bullying, harassment, or targeted abuse — of individuals or groups
• Hate speech — content that promotes violence or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
• Content designed to harass, threaten, or intimidate a specific person
• Instructions or encouragement of real-world harm

4. Content Ratings

Every novel on the platform receives a content rating:

• Clean — suitable for general audiences. No violence beyond mild conflict, no sexual content, no heavy themes.
• Teen+ — moderate violence, mild romantic content, some mature themes. Equivalent to a PG-13 film.
• Mature — literary violence, dark themes, romantic/sexual content up to the R-rated line. For users 18+ only.

Ratings are generated by our AI systems and reviewed by our moderation team. Ratings may be inaccurate. If you believe a novel is incorrectly rated, please report it.

Mature-rated content is available through search and genre filtering but does not appear in the default discovery feed.

5. Real People

Do not use the Service to create novels featuring real people as characters. This includes politicians, celebrities, athletes, public figures, and private individuals. This applies whether the portrayal is positive, negative, satirical, or fictional.

Our systems use AI-based content classification to detect references to real people. If a real person appears in an output despite our systems, do not publish it. Delete it or report it.

6. Intellectual Property

Do not use the Service to generate content using copyrighted characters, trademarked world names, or other protected creative elements. This includes characters from published novels, films, television, video games, comics, and other media.

This applies whether you use protected names directly or describe copyrighted works indirectly. Prompts designed to lead the AI toward recreating recognizable copyrighted characters, settings, or storylines — even without using protected names — violate this policy.

Our systems use AI-based content classification to detect potential intellectual property infringement. If protected content appears in an output despite our systems, do not publish it.

You are solely responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe the intellectual property rights of others. When in doubt, make it more original.

7. How We Moderate

Before publication: All novels submitted to the community library are reviewed before they go live. We use automated systems for initial screening and human review for approval.

After publication: Community members can report content that violates these guidelines. We review all reports.

What happens when you violate these guidelines:

• First offense (minor): Content removed, written warning.
• Repeated minor offenses: Temporary account suspension.
• Serious violation: Immediate content removal and account suspension pending review.
• Severe violation (illegal content, CSAM, targeted harassment): Immediate permanent ban. We may report the violation to relevant authorities.

We reserve the right to remove any content or terminate any account at our sole discretion.

8. Appeals

If you believe your content was removed or your account was actioned in error, you may appeal by contacting moderation@trywhimsy.com. Include the title of the work in question and why you believe the action was incorrect. We will review and respond.

9. The Village

Comments, discussions, and community interactions in the Village (our community space) are subject to these same guidelines. Be respectful. Disagree constructively. Do not use the Village to harass authors or other readers.

10. Your Role

You are part of this community. If you see content that violates these guidelines, report it. If your output contains something unexpected or concerning, flag it. The "Issue with this book?" button exists on every book page. Use it.
